I have PC tools Registry mechanic. I have a full paid version. I googled it like you said and didn’t see any thing bad said about it. What is your take on the program?
@crosscountryvideos Thanks and very glad to help others, as well as save myself some heartache fixing folks’ stuff.
@Ferradini75 I recommend Avast 5 FREE Antivirus and Spybot Search & Destroy. Unfortunately, Norton can be hard to remove and you might have to look for a Norton Removal Tool.
@MindPower009 CCleaner got a function that does something with the registry at least. I use it to delete temporary files as well.
@MindPower009 well i used it on my old computer and it really helped and made a diffrence and btw system mechanic isnt free i bought it for $ 39.99
p.s if you want to try it message me i will give you the product key
Very good info here thanks. But one question: I use Norton and honestly I want to get rid off it. What anti-virus you recommend, because I was planning to change to McPhee but you just said NO!!!!!.
@MindPower009 what do i type in
@MindPower009 A PC tuner/cleaner came with the Magix software. I downloaded it and it seemed to do a good job. Somethings I would tweek about it. But I felt safe trying it on an old computer. It did seem to help some of the problems and give it a bit more zip.
@101eminem101 Probably not. If you google it and find a bunch of pages talking about how to remove it, it’s got to be bad. LOL But I dunno do some research and get back to me on that.
@oldvision Thank you Gary! I really appreciate the encouragement. Yeah, I could get into depth but the general guidelines discussed here will keep most people out of a lot of trouble.
Well, unless they go to Canada.
@Alabama16301 dunno. Google it and see if you get any hits that say so.
@WASDsweden CCleaner isn’t a registry cleaner. It’s a temp files and recycler cleaner. I use it all the time, and it is amazing–BUT they don’t tell you how to set it up for much better cleaning. One of these days I’m going to do a video about it.
thank you for your time to help others brice great video!
CCleaner is a safe registry cleaner. I’m using it a few times per month but i don’t really notice any difference.
Unchecking toolbars while installing is really important
@MindPower009 There is where software like Comodo (and alike) comes in (although it wont stop browsers like chrome), that let you control what programs to allow to send out data.
Yeah, Comodo is a bit of a system hog (at least earlier versions). But when it comes to a good firewall combined antivirus, most of those are system hogs (in my experience).
In the end the best protection is user awareness (and the biggest security hole is probably the lack thereof). And protection sw is there to aid..
@MindPower009 I know you didn’t say that people shouldn’t use Chrome (I should perhaps worded it a bit different). It was meant like ‘a reply to those who would interpret it as “Chrome is something that they should stay away from”‘ (does that make sens!? I don’t know)
We should probably be cautious but most programs (especially commercial and shady free sw). I always decline on things like “Let us give you a better user experience by collecting data” (but what stops them from doing it anyway!?)
@MindPower009
hahaha, I agree, so long as that comment is not aimed at me specifically
haha
@MyOroInvictus Yeah I’ll be Dr. Laura here and say “It’s all YOUR FAULT!” LOL
@kevbrockmusic I pretty much wanted to address things people have installed on their PC’s already. But I do agree, I could’ve touched base on that one, too. And about 10 billion other unhealthy behavior patterns LOL.
@MrCHISOL Comodo is a system hog, and can (on some systems) actually slow down a computer to the point where people will ask “what the heck is wrong with my PC?” but I agree it is a pretty good protection.
@DavinDaGeek I don’t typically recommend Comodo only because it can slow a system down to the point where it’s virtually a doorstop, if you don’t have a high-performance setup (and if you do, it might not be after you install Comodo LOL). The rest I agree with
I don’t recommend a SINGLE pay antivirus.
@MrCHISOL Love your post. thanks for the great comments.
@MrCHISOL I think you get my point. It’s not the program, but rather the purpose it’s being used for that gets people in trouble. As you said so perfectly, it all comes down to behavior.
@MrCHISOL I never said that. I stated the facts on Google Toolbar, and let people make their own decision based on that. Chrome is a well-written, high speed browser. But it’s probably spyware, as far as I’m concerned.
Advance system care pro is that spy where bro bryce?
